Employee Stock Ownership Plans: The Versatile Estate Planning Tool that is Good for Pennsylvania

Dan Zugell (left), Senior Vice President of Business Transition Advisors, Inc. will lead the conversation with an overview of how ESOPs work, tax benefits, valuation and control issues as well as the exciting current design and financing trends.  

Dan Adley (center), Chief Executive Officer of KTA-Tator, Inc., the recent recipient of the Pittsburgh Business Ethics Award, will present a case study about KTA-Tator’s journey to become a 100% ESOP-owned company and the personal benefits and legacy enjoyed by selling shareholders, and on the ongoing benefits to the company and employees.

Kevin McPhillips (right), Executive Director of the non-profit Pennsylvania Center for Employee Ownership will discuss the exciting mission of the PaCEO as well as the benefits employee ownership provides to the Pennsylvania business owners and their families, workforce employees, communities and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

The presentation will conclude with some tangible estate and charitable techniques that estate planning professionals should consider when advising business owner clients who are looking to create a legacy,  tax-efficiently transfer wealth to future generations and/or benefit favorite charities, universities or foundations.
